India is determined to bounce back in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against England, despite a setback in the first Test. The team is focused on managing Jasprit Bumrah's workload, but remains confident in its bowling attack.
Prasidh Krishna emphasizes the team's culture of learning from each other, even in the absence of key players like Jasprit Bumrah.
Following the defeat at Headingley, Leeds, where England took a 1-0 lead, India's head coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed that Bumrah's participation would be limited to three of the five Tests. This decision, aimed at preventing burnout, has opened doors for other pacers to step up.
Prasidh Krishna, in particular, views this as an opportunity to showcase his skills. "What a culture we guys have created. We are learning from each other, no matter who's there or who's around," Krishna told reporters in Birmingham. He highlighted the importance of Bumrah's continued guidance, stating, "With Booms (Bumrah) around, he's been talking to all of us throughout, even before coming here."
Krishna emphasized the positive atmosphere within the team. Despite the loss, he asserted that the dressing room remains "positive, happy, and very, very motivated." He added, "We came here knowing what this opportunity meant for all of us." Krishna highlighted the team's proactive approach during the game, noting, "We might have looked quiet at times, but I think we still had a plan."
Jasprit Bumrah's intense training regime showcases his commitment despite workload management.
Addressing his own performance, Krishna acknowledged the need for improvement. "I definitely want to bring that number (economy) down – to the best I can," he stated. He reflected on his bowling lengths and lines, admitting they "weren’t perfect, to be honest, most of the time." However, he remained focused on learning and adapting, saying, "It’s my responsibility to get better, and that’s what I’m trying."
Krishna also spoke about Shubman Gill's captaincy, praising his leadership qualities. "About Shubman – yeah, I think he did a pretty good job," Krishna noted. He highlighted Gill's effective bowler rotation, strategic decision-making, and ability to create a positive team environment.
With the series far from over, India is determined to leverage its depth and resilience. The team's focus on continuous learning, coupled with the guidance of experienced players, positions them to mount a strong comeback.
