UEFA has dismissed Real Madrid's appeal regarding the disciplinary actions imposed on Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé, and Dani Ceballos for what it deemed "improper conduct."
The fines, initially levied on April 4th, stand as follows: Rüdiger (€40,000), Mbappé (€30,000), and Ceballos (€20,000). These penalties, equivalent to $47,000, $35,000, and $23,400 respectively, were issued for "violating the basic rules of decent conduct" during Real Madrid's tense Champions League round-of-16 penalty shootout victory against Atlético Madrid on March 12th.
In addition to the fines, Rüdiger and Mbappé received one-match suspensions, which will only be enforced if they commit similar offenses in the future.
UEFA's appeal body affirmed that no grounds existed to overturn the original disciplinary measures issued by its control, ethics, and disciplinary body.
The investigation was launched after Rüdiger was filmed making a throat-slitting gesture toward Atlético Madrid fans. Simultaneously, Mbappé was observed grabbing his crotch during the team's celebratory moments.
Ceballos's penalty stemmed from his actions of provoking fans at the Metropolitano stadium, constituting a violation of the basic rules of decent conduct.
